The Reef 145 Newcastle Avenue Sitting high above the Nanaimo Harbour, all of the suites enjoy a beautiful ocean view over the harbour, Protection Island and Newcastle Island. There are only 7 suites in this well maintained, four story wood framed building. The front suites-facing north east-over the harbour are approximately 1193 square feet, and the suites at the rear of the building, approximately 1400 sq ft “wrap around” –so that there are TWO view points from each suite, the living areas facing north , and the bedroom/den area facing east. A very well thought out design for the lot. Easy walking to downtown, public transit, and the Seawall.
The name says it all. Solid concrete building built in 1964 the Royal Vista sits at the corner of Newcastle Avenue and Rosehill Avenue, overlooking the Nanaimo Yacht Club and the harbour. Built in a “semi circle” most all of the suites have tremendous sweeping views over the harbour, Newcastle Island provincial Park or Protection Island. Most suites are in the 1100 sq ft range, with 1 suite being just 480 square feet. A premier location for Yacht Club members-or people who love watching boats. Public transit is 1 block away.
Located between downtown and the Departure Bay beach areas, Seascape Manor, built in 1981 consists of 106 suites ranging in size from 960 to over 1700 square feet, some with rooftop decks. While Seascape is not “technically waterfront” property, we have included it in our site, because of its dramatic location, on 4.5 acres, high up over Departure Bay, with most suites having wonderful, un-obstructed ocean, mountain, or beech views. Built in a “U” shape, the building has 3 separate entrances. Many of the suites have direct access to the outside so you don’t have to go into an elevator to enter your suite. They feel more like townhomes. Amenities include a hot tub & sauna, and an outdoor swimming pool. The suites are open & bright. The building is very well maintained, the management group takes great pride in the ownership. “At the Beach” – best describes Seaside Place- as it is located across form Nanaimo’s MOST popular beach--- Departure Bay beach. While it is not “technically waterfront” property, because there is a road in front of it the building, it is an OUTSTANDING location. Walk out your front door, across the road, and onto ½ mile of sandy oceanfront, onto the city park, that sits adjacent to Seaside to the west. Built on the site of an old resort from the 1940’s, Seaside is a 3 story complex, built in 1982, and has only 52 suites ranging in size from 628 to 948 square feet. There is a very small turnover of suites here, but if there is one available, when you are looking to buy, it’s well worth viewing. The location says it all. Seaside.
